Rear Ballast for Stability
To help maintain tractor/loader stability, add rear ballast. Ballast must be added to the tractor rear wheels and 3-point hitch as instructed in the chart. If ballast box (TY20103 or TY20104) is used, there are several common materials that can be used in the box in lieu of the QUIK-TACH weights.
| Tractor Model | Liquid in Rear Tires | Rear Wheel Weights | 3-Point Hitch Ballast* |
|---|---|---|---|
| 316, 318, 330 | Max | 2 (each wheel) | 170 lb (77 kg) |
| 420 | Max | 2 (each wheel) | 170 lb (77 kg) |
| 430 | Max | 2 (each wheel) | 275 lb (125 kg) |
* Ballast in ballast box / 1.36 ft3 (0.038 m3) / is recommended. However, a 3-point hitch implement of comparable weight may be substituted. If the 3-point hitch implement is to be operated while loader is stil attached to tractor, be certain to lower bucket to lowest position affording ground and obstruction clearance.
