What's in a Plan?
The fastest way to be put together an emergency communications plan is to click on Create Your Custom Plan at the bottom of the screen, answer some questions, then print the results. But you should also be familiar with some other kinds of plans: a Stay Plan, a Go Plan, and plans for helping people with disabilities or special medical needs in an emergency. All of these plans are explained in this section.
Communications Plan
Household members may not be together when an emergency occurs. Planning ahead for communicating with each other is an important part of your codeReady Plan.
Stay Plan (Sheltering-in-Place)
For some types of emergencies, staying in your home (and sheltering-in-place) is the best plan.
Go Plan (Evacuation)
For other types of emergencies, following instructions from public safety officials and leaving (evacuating) your home or neighborhood is the best plan.
Unique Situations and Special Needs
If you're in a high-rise building or a moving vehicle during an emergency, there's important information you need to know. And, if your household includes persons with disabilities or special medical needs, careful planning will be necessary.
