What is codeReady?
The Minnesota Department of Health and Department of Public Safety have launched the codeReady emergency preparedness campaign in Minnesota to motivate Minnesota residents to prepare now for a variety of potential emergencies. In the wakes of September 11 and Hurricane Katrina, emergency preparedness has become a significant issue nationwide. Minnesota intends to be a leader in this initiative by being among the first states to develop an all-hazards preparedness campaign with a substantial presence in the media, on the web and in communities statewide.
The various traditional and non-traditional media efforts are designed to drive citizens to this website so that they may prepare themselves and their families. "This campaign is not just about awareness, it's about action," said Emily Litt, codeReady Program Coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Health. "We want Minnesotans to understand the importance of becoming prepared, and then take the steps to actually get prepared. The website will help them do that."
The statewide mobile tour is another unique aspect of the codeReady campaign. During the months of May and June 2007, the tour will visit a multitude of communities and events throughout the state where the team will interact with residents to generate excitement and motivation surrounding codeReady and emergency preparedness.
